Underwood Alpacas

I visited Doug White from “Underwood Alpacas” in Underwood, WA.

Guess what he had on his farm. That’s right, alpacas! About 60 of them…

The females and babies are separated from the rest of the herd which are allowed to free range in the field in the background (about 40 acres).

While I was there a new baby was born (the tan one)! and all the mothers were very curious about the new arrival when it was brought in to the pen.

He also had some HUGE pigs. The bigger one is 900 lbs!

He also had some goats that liked to hang out with the goose.

…and a horse… It is a Spanish dancing horse that was saved from a glue factory fate.

…and check out the HUGE pinecone!

He was in the middle of resorting the store when I arrived, but if you look carefully the machinery to process the alpaca wool is under the boxes of raw material.

Here is the finished yarn…

…and some finished products…

I was lucky enough to be gifted with some socks and a hat! I have really been enjoying them so far.
