Pump pipe for extraction.
Extraction. Plug to break siphon.
Holes to break vacuum.
VCT sprayer!
Making Vermi-Compost “Tea” today. It is made by inserting a breathable bag of Vermi-Compost in to a container of water for 16 hrs or so. The remaining solution is a great liquid fertilizer for plants.
I had to do some modifications on the system when I switched to a bigger pump. There was so much water flow it filled the top jug very rapidly. I had to drill some holes in the pipe to slow it down. For the sake of aeration, the holes were drilled near the top. It took quite a lot of them.
I also drilled holes in the jug on top when I realized the water was creating a vacuum.
In order to get the VCT out I put some pvc pipe together to direct the flow to a bucket. A hole and stopper had to be added in order to break the siphon. Otherwise it will keep filling after the pump is shut off. I guess that could be used to advantage… I will check that out.
I also broke down and got a new sprayer. I really licked out and was able to get a display model for a good price. This one has a bigger pump (3.8 gpm) compared to the last one I tried so it worked a lot better in trial run. Dumped 10 gal in 10 min at full blast from the boom. Very happy with it.
Going to start applying soon. We will c how it goes…
